June 30, 2017 – The City of Midland has issued an update to residents on the status of the City’s sewer systems in the aftermath of last week’s major flooding event.
As the City’s sanitary sewer system continues to experience above normal flows, a significant rain event within the next several weeks could result in sewer back-ups.
As of 12:00 a.m. this morning, the Wastewater Treatment Plant is no longer experiencing an overflow and storage capacity at the Plant is beginning to increase. With the absence of any rain, the plant should return to normal operations with full storage capacity within two weeks.
Flood waters and sanitary sewer back-ups should have receded at this time. City residents who still have standing water in their home’s lower level are encouraged to call the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant at 989-837-3500.
