Adult Battle of the Books 2019 Rules of Play
The Battle will take place at 7pm on Friday, April 12, on the Mezzanine.
Competition will consist of 50 questions, asked in random order. All teams will have the opportunity to answer all questions. Each question will be read twice and displayed on a screen during deliberations.
Each team will have 45 seconds to discuss and write an answer. Teams may not use any outside assistance to answer questions; all books, notes, and electronic devices must be stowed away.
Each correct answer is worth 1 point. Incorrect answers have no value. There is no partial credit for partially correct answers. Judges will evaluate answers and award points based upon that evaluation. The judges’ evaluation is final. Failure to completely write an answer in the allotted time will result in forfeiture of the point. Written answers must be legible.
The highest score at the end of 50 questions determines the 1st and 2nd place teams. In the case of a tie for first or second place after 50 questions, the tied teams will compete in a written sudden-death face off. The tied teams will have the opportunity to correctly answer one-point tiebreak questions. The tiebreaker round will continue until one team achieves a one-point advantage.
In case of postponement for inclement weather or other outside causes, the rescheduled date for Battle will be April 26.
The Battle is on! April 12 at 7pm on the Mezzanine … Have fun!
