Since its inception in 2002, more than 22 million people from cities and town across America have participated in the America in Bloom program. Other Michigan cities that have participated in America in Bloom include Holland, Woodhaven and Frankenmuth.

AIB representatives toured and evaluated our community on: overall impression, heritage preservation, landscaped areas, environmental efforts, urban forestry, and floral displays; all with an emphasis on community involvement. The AIB representatives visited Midland July 21 and 22, 2016.

Residents got involved by painting, planting, tidying up their homes, businesses and neighborhoods, and working with neighbors to do the same. Residents also participated by nominating their favorite garden in the City-sponsored Secret Garden Contest.
