Bloom Where You're Planted: Volunteer to Keep Midland Beautiful
Volunteers are needed to help keep Midland beautiful! With over 12,000 bulbs to plant in the fall, 86 hanging baskets and 75 large pots in the downtown area, and countless flower beds to maintain throughout the city, there is much for the City of Midland to do to keep flora and fauna looking beautiful and healthy.
The City's Horticulturist Stephanie Richardson is looking for Midlanders to volunteer 3 - 4 hours a month to help with planting, pruning, weeding, and general maintenance of the many acres of flowers and plants in the city. No expertise is required just a willingness to get your hands in the dirt and help beautify the city.
Volunteer opportunities will be available during the months of April-November, weather permitting. Individuals are free to volunteer anytime, most anywhere with no commitment to an area. For those looking for a seasonal commitment the City also offers an Adopt A Flower Bed Program.
The City will provide safety vests, gloves, and any necessary tools to accomplish the work.
Adopt A Flower Bed Program
This program would allow you to maintain a specific area or planting bed for a minimum of one year. For annual planting beds you would be able to design the flower display and the City would provide the flowers to plant.
