Mission & Service

The mission of the Friends of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is to support, strengthen and enlarge the scope of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library's services and facilities for the enrichment of the entire community.

Through its members and volunteers, the friends:

  • Give significant financial support to library programs and services for the public.
  • Annually sponsor three large Used Book Sales at the library.
  • Are invited to Friday night Friends Only book sale previews.
  • Have the opportunity to share an enthusiasm for books and concern for the library's welfare.

Ongoing Used Book Sales

There is an Ongoing Used Book Sale on the main floor in the Cup and Chaucer.

Used Book Donations
Donated materials become the property of the Library. Materials may be added to the collection or given to the Friends of the Library to be sold at their used book sales. Proceeds from the sales support Library projects and programs. A receipt for donated material is available for tax purposes at the reference desk.

Bringing Your Donations to the Library
There are two places to bring your donations:

  •  The small bin near the reference desk.
  •  The large drive-up bin outside the employee entrance to the library on Eastman Avenue

Please call the library at 989-837-3430 with questions about dropping off donations.
