Community Affairs

Let’s Talk about City Government

The City of Midland’s Community Affairs Department is responsible for telling our residents about the many amazing departments, programs, and services that your local government provides! We offer a variety of print and digital media offerings that help you stay informed with what’s going on in Midland.

In addition, the department oversees the City’s two Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts, the Downtown Development Authority and the Center City Authority, and Midland Community Television (MCTV).

Video & Podcast Projects

Video News

Our Communications staff works directly with Midland Community Television (MCTV) to create video news updates available to watch on MGTV Channel 188, the City website, and the City's social media channels. In particular, we published three recurring news segments: "What's Up in the City!" (a recap of the previous Monday's City Council meetings), "What's Up in the City: Planning" (a recap of the previous Tuesday's Planning Commission meetings), and "Midland Minute" (updates on City news, programs, and other community information).

Podcast Updates

In addition to video news, Community Affairs staff also participate on two of the City's new podcast programs. Communications Coordinator Katie Guyer co-hosts "Word on the Street(s)", a podcast for information and updates on the Indian & Buttles Corridor Improvement Project. Community Affairs
