March
10, 2017 - The City of
Midland will begin its annual water main flushing program Monday, March 13. Hydrants throughout the city will be
systematically opened to clean and refresh the city’s drinking water
distribution system.
Water main flushing will begin in the
southeast section of Midland and will proceed north, remaining east of
Jefferson Avenue. Following completion
of the east side of Midland, flushing west of Jefferson will begin in the
southern section and again proceed north.
The entire process should be completed in approximately 10 weeks.
Water main flushing sometimes results in
discolored water. While not harmful, tap
water may appear orange in color for 5 to 15 minutes. Residents should avoid doing laundry while
their water is discolored.
The City’s annual maintenance program
helps ensure a high level of water quality by preventing corrosion and
maintaining a proper disinfection residual.
Information regarding daily flushing activities will be posted on the
City’s website at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov
and via MCTV Cable Channel 96.
