The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in collaboration with the Midland
Genealogical Society proudly present, The
Orphan Train Comes to Michigan. This lecture/documentary details the
selection and experiences of the 12,500 children from eastern states who were
placed in Michigan homes between the 1850s and 1920s. Presenters are Al and
David Eicher, historians and television producers who researched and gathered
photographs about the Orphan Train riders in Michigan
The
Orphan Train Comes to Michigan will be held in the Library auditorium on
Wednesday, March 15. Lecture begins at 7:00 pm. This program is free and family
friendly.
