[ARCHIVED] Time to Remove Winter Decorations from Midland Cemetery

March 24, 2017 – The deadline for property owners to remove winter decorations such as evergreen blankets and wreaths from plots at the Midland Cemetery is Monday, April 3. After that date, any remaining winter decorations will be removed and discarded by Midland Cemetery personnel.

Property owners are also reminded that all artificial flowers and decorations must be placed in a suitable, unbreakable container such as a pot or vase. Placing items directly into or on the ground is prohibited. Cemetery personnel will remove and dispose of decorations not meeting these requirements.

In an effort to maintain the appearance and upkeep of the Midland Cemetery, the Midland City Council adopted cemetery rules that outline specific rules and regulations regarding maintenance, allowable items, and time frames for placing and removing grave decorations within the cemetery. A complete copy of the Midland Cemetery Rules is available, upon request, at the Cemetery Office on the grounds of the cemetery, or at the City Clerk’s Office located at Midland City Hall. The rules are also posted on the City’s website, at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/cemetery.
