April 13, 2017 – Midland Community Bike Tour has announced dates for its 2017 Community Bike Rides. These free, leisurely rides offer residents of all ages the opportunity to explore the City and enjoy outdoor exercise while promoting cycling safety and Midland’s bicycle amenities.
Rides will take place every Tuesday from May 2 to September 26 starting at 6 p.m. at the Michigan State University STEM Center (formerly Midland Molecular Institute) parking lot at 1910 W. St Andrews. Ride lengths range from 8 to 12 miles and use many of the designated bike paths and ‘Share the Road’ lanes within the City. Ride routes vary from week to week and visit a variety of Midland attractions, landmarks, and trails.
Riders of all ages and skill levels are welcome, but riders under 16 years old must have an adult present to join. Registration for each event is not required; just show up ready to ride!
Bicycle tours have become a popular trend in several other Michigan cities: Detroit’s Slow Roll™ attracts up to 3,000 riders for a weekly ride, and the Counter Cruise in Saginaw and the BARS ride in Bay City have also become popular weekly events. Invite your friends, family, and fellow cyclists to join the fun at a Midland Community Bike Ride this summer.
All scheduled ride dates, times, descriptions, and any cancellations can be found on the group’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/MidlandCommunityBikeTour.
