June 29, 2017 – Last week’s flood event can’t dampen Midland’s patriotic celebrations! In partnership with the Michigan Baseball Foundation, the City of Midland Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the 2017 Fourth of July fireworks will take place at dusk on Tuesday, July 4 as planned, but will now be launched from the former 4D manufacturing site.
Residents are invited to view the fireworks from the grounds surrounding Dow Diamond, Overlook Park, Putnam Park, the top level of the Larkin parking ramp, or other safe nearby areas. Parking will be available in all Dow Diamond parking lots with the exception of the lots in front and northwest of the stadium, which will be closed to allow guests to set up chairs for fireworks viewing. Dow Diamond will be closed during the event.
Journey tribute band The Rock Show will take the stage at 8:00 p.m. on the front lawn of Dow Diamond. Vendors will be set up along State Street to provide food and beverages and portable restrooms will be available on-site. E. Main Street and State Street will be closed from Poseyville Road to Buttles Street to allow patrons to safely enjoy the festivities.
For the safety and enjoyment of all spectators, personal fireworks like sparklers, firecrackers, and other items will be prohibited. As animals can be frightened by fireworks, the City asks that pets be left at home during this event. Police officers will be on-site.
In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 5 at the same location.
