[ARCHIVED] Midland Fire Department Issues Update Regarding Greenhill Apartment Fire

UPDATE: August 4, 2017 -  As of today, Greenhill tenants are not allowed in the building except to remove possessions. Residents must be accompanied by a representative from the apartment complex and the restoration company. Residents may only access the building between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.(including Saturday and Sunday) until further notice. Management asks residents to line up by the dumpster on the north side of the building and wait for an escort.

August 1, 2017 – On July 31, 2017 at approximately 6:22 p.m., Midland Fire Department was called to a structure fire at Greenhill Apartments at 1010 Eastlawn Drive. This event resulted in the evacuation of all residents in the complex.

MFD and the City’s Building Department will begin inspecting the structure today to determine when it will be safe for residents to access and reoccupy the building. No timeline for residents returning to the building has been determined at this time.

A temporary shelter has been set up at Midland High School, 1301 Eastlawn Drive, to assist residents displaced by the fire. Greenhill residents who have required medications or pets still inside their apartments are asked to contact Greenhill Management at 989-832-3173 by 5:00 p.m. today to make arrangements for access. Please be aware that pets are not permitted at the temporary shelter, so alternate living arrangements should be made for animals at this time.

Residents are reminded not to call 911 for non-emergency questions related to this event.

Midland Fire Department wishes to thank the Auburn-Williams and Larkin Township Fire Departments for their assistance on this call.
