[ARCHIVED] Residents Reminded to Obey Road Closure Signs

August 25, 2017 – As the 2017 orange barrel season comes to a close, the City of Midland reminds residents to obey all posted construction signs. Failure to comply with construction signs pose an immediate threat to worker safety and may cause damage to vehicles.

As a reminder:

  • A “Road Closed to Thru Traffic” sign indicates that only those traveling to a destination within the construction zone may bypass the closure sign. If your destination lies outside of the construction zone, or if you can access your destination via another access point not within the construction zone, you should find an alternate route.
  • A “Road Closed” sign indicates that no traffic should travel through the construction zone. In these instances, prior arrangements will be made with residents or business owners within the construction zone.

Midland Police Department will issue tickets to motorists who do not obey posted construction signs in these areas.

For more information, contact City Engineering at 989-837-3348 or view project updates at http://bit.ly/midlandroads. Updates will also be shared on the City of Midland Construction Facebook page at facebook.com/midlandconstruction and on Twitter at @CityofMidlandMI.
