August 31, 2017 – The Arboriculture Society of Michigan (ASM) will host the 2017 Michigan Tree Climbing Championship (MTCC) at Midland’s Emerson Park on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. The annual event brings top professional tree climbers from all over the state to compete for the opportunity to represent Michigan at the 2018 International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC) in Columbus, OH.
This unique competition is more like rock climbing in trees: professional tree climbers compete to test their speed, endurance and safety in a simulated work situation while in a tree. This event is free and open to the public and features a variety of learning and playing activities, including an Arbor Fair and a Kid’s Climb sponsored by CLIMB A TREE. The Arbor Fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide the public with information about trees, certified arborists, and tree services available in the Midland area.
