October 12, 2017 - Friends of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, a non-profit dedicated to supporting the Library’s services and facilities, has announced a donation of $100,000 to help rebuild the children’s area of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library.
The lower level of the library, which houses the children’s area, conference rooms, Community Room, computer lab, and MCTV, sustained an estimated $1.5 million in damages and clean-up costs during the historic rain and flooding in Midland this past June.
“The damage to our local, beloved library was devastating,” said Board Chair Kathy Rassette. “The basement of the Library was home to thousands of children and teens who took part in its programs and services. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover the cost of restoration. A generous grant from The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation has been awarded to the Library towards the restoration. The Friends donation will further close the gap and help bring back the Library that our community has come to love. We want to do everything we can to help rebuild.”
