The 2017 Midland-Handa Student Exchange ambassadors pose in front of a yellow Japanese temple.October 27, 2017 – The Midland-Handa Sister City Committee invites the community to learn more about its long-standing student exchange program at a public event on Sunday, November 12 at 3:30 p.m. in the Griswold Communications Center on the campus of Northwood University.

Guests will hear firsthand from Midland’s 2017 student ambassadors Sarah Brandstadt, Justin Witt, and John White. The three high schoolers spent three weeks in Handa, Japan living with host families and experiencing Japanese culture and lifestyles not available to most tourists. Attendees will also learn more about the Sister City program, how to become host families for Japanese students in 2018, and how to apply as student participants traveling to Japan in 2019.  The event will be moderated by Midland Mayor Maureen Donker.

This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required to attend.
