October 27, 2017 – The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is embracing Midland’s place as the City of Modern Explorers in its latest free lecture series! This fall’s series, entitled “Modern Explorers” focuses on the quest to know more about the frontiers of our world today and will take guests to the edge of discovery on a variety of topics.
Dr. Leonard Fleck, from the Michigan State University Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences, will be joining us on Thursday, November 2 to share his insights on several controversial issues in his presentation, “Genetics, Ethics, and the Future of Human Reproduction.” Dr. Fleck will discuss how the field of human genetics has been progressing rapidly, often ahead of a thorough investigation into the moral and ethical implications of new genetic technologies such as cloning and genetic engineering.
