[ARCHIVED] City Unveils New App to Provide Digital Service Reminders

December 15, 2017 Residents with a computer, smartphone, or tablet now have access to a new app that puts City of Midland refuse, recycling, and special waste collection details at their fingertips anytime they want them.

The mobile and web app, developed by Recycle Coach, provides residents with collection day reminders related to the City’s public services, including weekly refuse and yard waste collection, monthly recycling collection, and monthly heavy item and brush collection. With the new app, residents can set timed reminders before their collection day, as well as find collection requirements and accepted materials lists for each collection type. This program is also available for computer users at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/publicservices and provides email reminders and/or the ability to print out your curbside collection schedule based on your address.

The Recycle Coach solution comes at no cost to the City or its residents.

“Once residents have downloaded the app or signed up for email alerts from the City’s website, they can set it up to give them regular reminders for any of our curbside collection programs,” says Assistant Director of Public Services Jan Yuergens. “Not only can they set alert reminders for their refuse, recycling, and heavy item collection days, but they can also stay updated on collection schedule changes due to holiday closures. We’re very excited to provide the Recycle CoachTM app to City residents!”

The Recycle Coach™ app is available free to download from the iTunes Store and Google Play. It is also available for desktop users at www.recyclecoach.com/residents. For more information on City of Midland Public Services, visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/publicservices or call 989-837-6900.
