[ARCHIVED] Spring Free Yard Waste Collection Begins Apr. 2

March 16, 2018 – With hopes of spring being right around the corner the City of Midland has mailed yard waste bin renewal notices to residents.

Yard waste collection will begin on Monday, April 2.  Yard waste is collected curbside on your regular weekly refuse collection day.  Yard waste must be placed in Kraft paper compost bags or blue, 95-gallon yard waste bins before being set at the curb.  Acceptable materials include grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, and small twigs and branches.

The Spring Free Yard Waste collection begins each year on the first Monday in April.  Stickers will not be required on bags and bins until the first Monday in May.

For 2018, Spring Free will begin on Monday, April 2 and last until Friday, May 4. Yard waste stickers will be required for bags and bins beginning Monday, May 7.

The cost for yard waste bag stickers and annual bin stickers are as follows:

  • Yard waste bag stickers – $0.40 per bag
  • Yard waste bin annual sticker – $40.00
  • Additional yard waste bin annual sticker – $17.00 for each additional bin at the same address

For additional information on yard waste collection, contact the Department of Public Services at 989-837-6900 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/publicservices.
