[ARCHIVED] First 2018 House Hazardous Waste Collection Date is Apr. 25

April 6, 2018 – The City of Midland Sanitary Landfill has announced that the first house hazardous waste collection date for 2018 will be Wednesday, April 25. On this date, Midland County residents may dispose of household items that are considered hazardous, such as chemicals, oil-based paints and stains, pesticides, insecticides, household cleaning products, certain auto products, mercury, and medicines.

To take advantage of this free service at the Landfill, residents must schedule an appointment with the Midland County Health Department at 989-832-6681 or online at http://bit.ly/midlandwaste well in advance of the collection date. Be prepared to indicate the type and amount of materials you wish to drop off.  Only residents with appointments will be allowed to drop off materials.

Additional dates in late June, August, and October 2018 will be announced at a later time.

Electronic items such as cell phones, computers, and other electronic devices that may contain mercury, plus old thermometers and fluorescent light bulbs, should be recycled whenever possible. Electronics are accepted daily at Midland Recyclers, 4305 E. Ashman Street, located at the Landfill entrance. They may also be accepted at Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

For more information, contact the Landfill at 989-837-6988 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/landfill. The Landfill is located at 4311 E. Ashman Street in Midland.
