April 20, 2018 – The City of Midland Sanitary Landfill has announced three additional dates for 2018 house hazardous waste collection:
- Wednesday, June 20
- Tuesday, August 14
- Wednesday, October 24
On these dates, Midland County residents may dispose of household items that are considered hazardous, such as chemicals, oil-based paints and stains, pesticides, insecticides, household cleaning products, certain auto products, mercury, and medicines.
The first house hazardous waste collection date for 2018 is Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Residents must schedule an appointment with the Midland County Health Department at 989-832-6681 or online at http://bit.ly/midlandwaste in advance of the collection dates to take advantage of this service. Be prepared to indicate the type and amount of materials you wish to drop off. Only residents with appointments will be allowed to drop off materials.
Electronic items such as cell phones, computers, and other electronic devices that may contain mercury, plus old thermometers and fluorescent light bulbs, should be recycled whenever possible. Electronics are accepted daily at Midland Recyclers, 4305 E. Ashman Street, located at the Landfill entrance. They may also be accepted at Goodwill or the Salvation Army.
