May 2, 2018 – Midland residents and Tridge aficionados across Michigan are invited to celebrate the iconic landmark’s 2017 renovation at a grand re-dedication ceremony on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the foot of the Tridge near the Farmers Market in downtown Midland (201 Wyman Street).
The event will feature a formal ribbon cutting ceremony with remarks from local officials and dignitaries, including Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation President Lisa Gerstacker, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, and Midland Mayor Maureen Donker, as well as a performance by the Midland Concert Band and other activities. The Honorable Thomas L. Ludington will serve as the master of ceremonies.
The Tridge renovation, completed in December 2017, included a complete re-staining of the structure and installation of new wood decking and railings, benches, and a programmable color-changing light system. The project was generously funded via a $2.5 million gift from the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation.
