[ARCHIVED] Official Statement Regarding Chemical Bank Relocation Announcement

Chemical Bank sign

July 25, 2018 – This morning, the City of Midland received notification from Chemical Bank of its intent to relocate its corporate headquarters from Midland to Detroit. While we are extremely disappointed to hear this news, it is now our primary focus to work closely with Chemical Bank as we mutually ensure the comfort and security of the many Chemical Bank employees who live and work in our community.

Chemical Bank has advised the City that its workforce of more than 500 employees in Midland will be retained and that the current corporate headquarters will be transitioned into a corporate operations center. It is our hope that, despite this corporate shift, the Midland-based workforce will not only be retained, but will also grow over time as Chemical Bank continues its corporate expansion efforts. Chemical Bank has been a strong community partner with the City of Midland since its inception more than a century ago and we look forward to continuing that relationship.

The City of Midland will share additional relevant information as it becomes available.
