September 21, 2018 – The City of Midland is pleased to announce that Assistant City Manager David Keenan has been elected the 2018-2019 president of the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association (MGFOA).
Keenan officially assumed his new role at the MGFOA 2018 Fall Training Institute held September 16-19 in Kalamazoo.
“Dave’s appointment as president of this statewide organization shows the tremendous amount of respect his peers have for his work,” said Midland City Manager Brad Kaye. “We’re thrilled that his extensive knowledge and dutiful work in municipal finance has resulted in this well-deserved recognition.”
Keenan joined the MGFOA in 2000. Prior to being named president, he was elected to the Board of Directors in 2015, treasurer in 2016, and vice president/secretary in 2017. He has served the City of Midland since 2000 and was promoted to assistant city manager in 2015.
The MGFOA, established in 1938, is a professional association of public officials and finance professionals, striving to promote excellence in government finance by providing members with educational opportunities, aiding in the development and promotion of industry standards, and staying abreast of current events that could impact local units of government within the State of Michigan.
