October 12, 2018 – On Thursday, October 18, explore the personal and political struggles President Lyndon B. Johnson faced on civil rights issues with Dr. Kenneth Jolly from Saginaw Valley State University in a lecture-styled presentation. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is one of the groundbreaking legacies of the Lyndon B. Johnson administration. Forged from the legacy of John F. Kennedy and through years of grassroots organizing and political maneuvering, the road to civil rights legislation was a long one for Johnson.

This presentation is free and open to all ages. The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. in the Library Auditorium.

This event is presented as part of the Library’s “Meet the Presidents” fall lecture series. For more information on the “Meet the Presidents” lecture series, please contact the Reference Desk at 837-3449 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/library.
