October 12, 2018 – The City of Midland is pleased to announce that Water Distribution General Supervisor Andrew “Andy” Parrott has been awarded the 2018 Edward Dunbar Rich Service Award by the State of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
Parrott received the honor last month during the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association (MI-AWWA) Annual Conference in Kalamazoo.
Andy joined the City of Midland in 1991, serving as a bus driver for Dial-A-Ride and a service worker for Parks and Recreation before joining the City’s Water Distribution department in 1993. He began his career as a water serviceman and was subsequently promoted to meter reader, customer service technician, distribution supervisor, and, most recently, to distribution general supervisor. Andy holds an S-1 Distribution Operator Certificate, the highest level of classification offered by the State of Michigan, and is a member of the American Water Works Association and the American Backflow Prevention Association.
“Andy’s 25 years of dedication to the City of Midland and our water infrastructure is an incredible milestone,“ says Midland City Manager Brad Kaye. “We are very grateful for the work he does to ensure that Midland residents receive clean, safe drinking water into their homes and businesses every day.”
The Edward Dunbar Rich Service Award recognizes individuals for 25 years of meritorious and faithful service in the waterworks industry in Michigan. It is sponsored by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association. For more information, please visit www.michigan.gov/deq.
