[ARCHIVED] Currie Parkway Bridge Closed Until Further Notice, Repairs Pending

Currie Bridge

November 16, 2018 – The City of Midland has announced that the historic Currie Parkway Bridge will remain closed after damage was found during an emergency inspection conducted this morning.

City officials initially closed the bridge to traffic on Thursday, November 15 following concerns that an oversized vehicle exceeding the 10,000-pound weight limit had used the bridge. A preliminary inspection by Great Lakes Engineering Group, LLC conducted Friday determined that several parts of the bridge sustained damage and will require repair before being reopened to vehicular traffic.

A timeline for the repair and reopening of the Currie Parkway Bridge is unknown at this time and will be determined pending further inspection and analysis.

For more information, contact City Engineering at 989-837-3348. Updates will be shared on the City of Midland Facebook page at facebook.com/cityofmidlandmi and on Twitter at @CityofMidlandMI.
