January 25, 2019 – The City of Midland reminds property owners that the last day for payment of December 2018 taxes, without penalty, is Thursday, February 14, 2019.

Winter tax bills may be paid by cash or check at the Midland City Treasurer's Office, 333 W. Ellsworth Street, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Credit cards are not accepted.  After-hours payments may be placed in the depository located inside the main entrance of Midland City Hall.

If you are signed up for the City’s Auto-Pay service, the billed amount of your taxes will be automatically withdrawn from the bank account of your choosing on February 14, 2019.

Winter tax payments received from February 15 through February 28 will have a four percent penalty applied to the remaining balance.

On March 1, the City will turn delinquent real and special property taxes over to the Midland County Treasurer, who then assesses additional fees plus one percent interest for each month of delinquency thereafter.

The City bills and collects winter taxes on behalf of other local governments and school districts as a service to those entities. The winter tax bill does not include a tax levy for the City.

The total winter millage rate on principal residence property in the city of Midland, within the Midland Public Schools District, is 9.0792 mills; the total on non-principal residence property is 17.2378 mills.

For more information, call the City Treasurer’s Office at 989-837-3315.  You can also find valuable information about your property’s tax history through the City’s tax billing information website, available at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/treasurer.

Please note: On the February page of the 2019 City Calendar & Services Guide, it states that the deadline to file a winter tax deferment is February 14. The City does not offer a winter tax deferment option; only summer taxes may be deferred. We apologize for this error.
