February 22, 2019 – The City of Midland Engineering Department is ramping up for another busy construction season in 2019 with a variety of street reconstruction, resurfacing, and water main replacement projects on this year’s list.
The final block of redevelopment on the Downtown Midland streetscape will begin in April 2019 as Main Street will undergo construction from Cronkright Street to the Poseyville Bridge. Additional high-traffic streets scheduled to undergo reconstruction include Eastman Avenue at W. Wackerly Street, S. Saginaw Road from Patrick Road to Dartmouth Drive, E. Sugnet Road from Jefferson Avenue to Washington Street, W. Wackerly Street from Stark Road to Dublin Avenue, and Haley Street from Indian Street to Jefferson Avenue. The City anticipates street and lane closures during projects, and detours will be posted if necessary.
Street construction activities will also take place at several other locations, including Townsend Street, Buchanan Drive, Byrd Street, Cambridge Street, Federal Street, W. Nickels Street, Airfield Lane, and more. General work includes curb replacement, sidewalk repairs, water main replacement, and street paving activities.
