[ARCHIVED] Open Position Available on City Zoning Board of Appeals

June 27, 2019 – Looking to make a difference in the Midland community? The City of Midland invites you to apply for an open alternate position on the City’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

The available citizen-at-large alternate position serves as needed when regular members are unable to attend a ZBA meeting. The term for this position expires on June 30, 2020.

The Zoning Board of Appeals provides an administrative review, interpretation or exception to the Zoning Ordinance and authorizes variances as defined in the Zoning Ordinance and laws of the State of Michigan. Responsibilities include reviewing, hearing and deciding appeals, granting variances, approving temporary permits, and granting special approvals as specified by the Zoning Ordinance. The ZBA meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

To complete a digital application, visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/zba. Paper applications are available from the City Manager’s Office at City Hall, 333 W. Ellsworth St. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31.

Applicants must be City of Midland residents. No previous experience or professional experience is required to serve; however, applicants must be able to attend the scheduled meetings. Any applicants who have previously applied for a board or commission vacancy are asked to submit a new application.

For questions or more information, please contact the City Manager’s Office at 989-837-3301.
