[ARCHIVED] Law Enforcement Torch Run/Walk for Special Olympics

August 22, 2019 – Runners/walkers of all skill levels are invited to participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics starting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, in Midland. This community event is not a race, but a leisurely run/walk to bring people together for the purpose of raising funds and awareness for the over 27,000 Special Olympics athletes in Michigan.

The Torch Run will start at the Midland Law Enforcement Center (LEC), 2727 Rodd Street.  This year there will again be two routes: a 5K route for runners and a 2-mile route for walkers, with both routes ending at the finish line inside Dow Diamond.  Both the walkers and runners will leave the LEC at 5:30 p.m. and will be escorted by police cruiser through the route.

Registration for the run/walk is required, and participants who register with a $25 donation will receive a t-shirt.  Register online at www.classy.org/event/midland-community-run/e239100 or pick up a registration form at the LEC. Same-day registrations are available beginning at 4 p.m. through the start of the run/walk at 5:30 p.m.

The Midland Law Enforcement Torch Run has the distinct honor of being the top community run in the state for participation and funds raised the last six straight years. Please join Midland Police Department in raising funds and awareness for a great cause – and some bragging rights, too!

For questions or further information on the Midland run, contact Community Relations Sergeant Chris Wenzell at 989-839-4704 or cwenzell@midland-mi.org.
