September 20, 2019 – The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library kicks off its Fall Lecture Series “Hotspots of the World” next Thursday, September 26 at 7 p.m. with an exploration of the political climate and contentious conflicts in North Korea.
Since the Korean War nearly 70 years ago, the Korean peninsula has had the potential to create global destabilization. With its complex relationship with both China and Russia, North Korea is often at odds with its neighbors and the United States. At this event, Saginaw Valley State University Associate Professor of History Dr. Byungil Ahn will help attendees understand the enigma that is North Korea and how the current hostility has affected peace in that area of the world.
Future lecture topics in the series will include Ukraine on October 24; Syria on November 14; and Venezuela on December 5.
All events in the Fall Lecture Series are free and open to the public and are held in the Auditorium of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library.
