[ARCHIVED] Flooding Update Issued by Midland County Emergency Management

UPDATE, 11:50 a.m.: The Flood Watch for Midland County has been cancelled. Please continue to monitor river levels.

October 2, 2019; 11:25 a.m. - The National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Flood Watch for Midland County expiring at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2.  A Flood Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding. It does not mean flooding will occur, but it is possible.

 As of 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, the Tittabawasee River, level is 16.09 feet and rising.  The NWS has forecast the river level to peak at 21 feet, which is below flood stage of 24 feet but above action stage of 18 feet.

At a river level of 21 feet, the following road closures are anticipated:

  • Tittabawassee River Road east of Green Road
  • Golfside Drive
  • Emerson Park Road
  • Dublin Avenue between Tittabawassee River Road and Plumtree Lane (21.5 feet)

Residents are advised to obey all road closure signs and to stay clear of standing water, flooded areas and floating debris. Do not drive through standing water. Take extra precaution in areas where electrical items may be submerged.

Residents should closely monitor flooding conditions using a weather radio and the following local sources:
