[ARCHIVED] Three Free Weeks of Yard Waste Bag Collection Begins October 6

Fall Leaves.JPG

September 30, 2014 – The City of Midland will offer three free weeks of yard waste collection from Monday, October 6 through Friday, October 24. During this period, the City will suspend the 35-cent per bag sticker and annual yard waste bin sticker typically required on yard waste bags and bins.

Yard waste is collected curbside in kraft paper compost bags or 95-gallon yard waste bins. Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, and small twigs and branches.

The City will begin collecting leaves raked into the gutter once a significant leaf drop has occurred citywide. Residents should refrain from raking leaves into the street at this time. Instead, leaves should be placed in kraft paper compost bags and blue yard waste bins for weekly collection.

Stay tuned to MGTV Charter Cable 188, AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, the City’s website (www.cityofmidlandmi.gov), the leaf collection hotline (989-837-3405), and local media for updates on the beginning of the fall leaf collection program.

For questions or further information, contact the Department of Public Services, 989-837-6900.
