October 18, 2019 – The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library continues its exploration of world conflict in its Fall Lecture Series “Hotspots of the World” on Thursday, October 24 at 7 p.m. with a lecture on the ongoing military and humanitarian crises in Ukraine.

History professor Dr. Matthew Pauly of Michigan State University will discuss current conflict in eastern Ukraine and explain why an understanding of Ukraine’s long history and relationship with Russia is necessary to gain insight into the country’s current turmoil, which has claimed over 13,000 lives and constitutes a grave ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Future lecture topics in the series will include Syria on November 14 and and Venezuela on December 5.

All events in the Fall Lecture Series are free and open to the public and are held in the Auditorium of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library.

For more information about this and other events, call the Reference Desk at 989-837-3449 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/library. The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is located at 1710 W. St. Andrews Rd and is a service of the City of Midland.
