October 3, 2014 – Fire Prevention Week in Midland is October 5-11. To help emphasize fire safety, the Midland Fire Department will hold its annual Fire Prevention Open House on Saturday, October 11, 1-4 p.m.
Fire Station One, 816 E. Haley Street, is the location for this year’s open house. During the event, young and old alike are welcome to enjoy refreshments, tour the fire station and view its equipment, learn how to plan for and practice fire escape, and view fire safety exhibits. A drawing for a children’s bicycle is planned for the event.
Also during Fire Prevention Week, the department will join forces with the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association to focus on this year’s theme, “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives. Test Yours Every Month!” During this year's fire safety campaign, firefighters and safety advocates will be reminding residents of simple steps that can be taken to protect life and property from the dangers of home fires.
For questions or further information about the open house or the department’s fire safety initiatives, call 989-837-3410 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/fire.
