October 3, 2014 – A water main replacement project on North Saginaw Road started on Thursday, October 2 instead of the originally planned date of Tuesday, September 30. The City of Midland Water Division will begin replacement activities on North Saginaw from Sturgeon Creek Parkway to West Main Street on Monday, October 6.
The first phase of the project will involve conducting drilling related to installation of a new 12” water main. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day Tuesday, October 7.
During this first phase, the right lane of northbound North Saginaw will be closed from Sturgeon Creek Parkway to West Main. In addition to the lane closure on North Saginaw, Sturgeon Creek Parkway will be closed to traffic at the intersection of North Saginaw on Monday, October 6. Sturgeon Creek Parkway traffic will be detoured west on North Saginaw to Perrine Road then east on Haskin Drive.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
The second phase of the project, which begins Wednesday, October 8, involves tying the new main together. The work is expected to be completed by October 24, and should require no further traffic disruptions.
Water pressure should not be impacted during these maintenance activities.
