[ARCHIVED] Free Yard Waste Collection Extended until January 3, 2020

Leaves 2 450x335

December 27, 2019 – Due to unseasonably warm weather, the City of Midland has extended its fall free yard waste collection program until Friday, January 3, 2020.

Residents who wish to dispose of any remaining leaves or yard waste should place items into Kraft paper compost bags or blue City yard waste bins and set them at the curb on their refuse collection day. Large brush items, including storm debris and real Christmas trees, should be placed at the curb on residents’ Heavy Item collection week.

Curbside bulk leaf collection has ended for the 2019 collection season. No leaves are permitted in the street at this time. All remaining leaves, including those raked to the street, should be bagged or binned and placed out for collection through January 3.

Please note that yard waste can become frozen in yard waste bins if kept outside during freezing temperatures and cannot be emptied by City equipment. Residents may want to consider keeping yard waste bins in their garages if possible to help prevent freezing.

For a full list of acceptable yard waste items, to find your collection schedule, and other helpful tips, please contact the Department of Public Services at 989-837-6900 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/publicservices.
