January 3, 2020 - Do you have what it takes to be king of the hill? Midland Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the 2nd annual Midland Midwinter Chill Cardboard Sled Races at City Forest!
The races will take place on Saturday, January 25 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Midland City Forest, 2840 E. Monroe Road, Midland. The schedule of events is as follows:
- 1 p.m. – Class I (Riders 10U)
- 2 p.m. – Class 2 (Riders 11-17)
- 3 p.m. – Class 3 (Riders 18+ and families)
Awards will be given for the “King of the Hill” in each class and division, as well as Best Dressed and Most Spirited in each class.
New in 2020, we have updated our event to let your creative genius run wild See below on definitions for each division.
- Original category – Sleds made using cardboard, duct tape and glue; just the basics.
- Catch-all category – In addition to cardboard, glue, duct tape, and paint, supplementary soft material items may be used to enhance the aesthetics of the sled. Visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/chill for specific sled requirements and racing rules.
Preregister for the cardboard sled races online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/chill by Thursday, January 23. There will be registration of the day of the event if space allows.
