[ARCHIVED] Playgrounds in All City Parks Closed Until Further Notice

Yellow tape with black Caution on it amidst a green background

March 30, 2020 – Out of an abundance of caution amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, City of Midland Parks and Recreation has closed the playground equipment in all City of Midland-maintained parks effective immediately until further notice.

The closures come in response to public health directives urging organizations to curb the potential spread of COVID-19 by closing or limiting public access to areas that attract congregations of people.

Residents may continue to use City parks and trails for outdoor exercise as outlined in Executive Order 2020-21 (“Stay Home, Stay Safe”) issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Monday, March 23. Park visitors are encouraged to practice social distancing and hygiene guidelines as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, which include maintaining at least six (6) feet of distance between individuals, washing hands frequently, and avoiding touching your face.

More information on City parks and a map of the City’s park locations can be found online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/recreation.

At this time, all non-essential City services and buildings remain closed through April 13, 2020. The City will continue to monitor public health information regarding COVID-19 and will reassess and alter its response as needed. A complete list of closures and service changes can be find at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/coronavirus.
