[ARCHIVED] Heavy Item Appliance Collection Suspended Until Further Notice

April 3, 2020 – Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Midland has suspended the collection of appliances during residents’ monthly heavy item collection until further notice.

The service change comes in an effort to maintain proper social distancing practices as outlined by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to limit equipment operators’ potential exposure to COVID-19.

Heavy item collection of all non-appliance bulky items will continue as scheduled. As previously released, brush collection has been suspended until further notice.

The City will continue to monitor public health information regarding COVID-19 and will reassess and alter its response as needed.

All City offices and buildings and non-essential City services are closed to the public through April 13, 2020 as outlined by Executive Order 2020-21 (“Stay Home, Stay Safe”) issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Monday, March 23. For a list of service changes related to this order, please visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/coronavirus.
