[ARCHIVED] Currie Municipal Golf Course Reopens with Additional Precautions

The Currie Golf Course clubhouse in the early morning

April 24, 2020 – In response to Executive Order 2020-59 (“Stay Home, Stay Safe”) issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Friday April 24 permitting the operation of golf courses, the City of Midland has announced that Currie Municipal Golf Course will reopen on Saturday, April 25.

In an effort to comply with this executive order and social distancing guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the course will be open for walking players only. Carts will not be available for use. Players are strongly encouraged to reserve tee times and pre-pay for their rounds online at or by phone at 989-837-9600 to limit in-person interaction with staff.

Additional safety measures also in place will include:

  • Spaced-out tee time intervals to control traffic flow and limit player interaction
  • Clubhouse occupancy restrictions and social distancing requirements for in-person transactions
  • Increased distance between hitting stations at the driving range
  • Hole/cup inserts that eliminate players’ need to touch pins or cup surfaces after completing a hole
  • Removal of common course touch points, such as ball washers, bunker rakes, and water stations
  • Complimentary sanitation stations and sanitary wipes for all players
  • Increased cleanings for all shared spaces and equipment
  • Limited takeout food and beverage and retail sales in compliance with the current executive order

Currie Municipal Golf Course is owned by the City of Midland and managed by Billy Casper Golf. For more information or to schedule a tee time, visit or call 989-839-9600.
