[ARCHIVED] Absentee Voter Applications for August Election Coming Soon

Red, white, and blue stickers that say "I Voted"

May 15, 2020 – The Midland City Clerk’s Office will begin processing and mailing absentee ballot applications for the August 4 Primary Election next week to registered voters in the City of Midland who have joined the Permanent Absentee Voter List – and there’s still time to sign up!

Voters who join the City’s Permanent Absentee Voter List will automatically receive an application to vote by absentee ballot, in the mail, 8 weeks before every election. After completing and returning this application the voter will receive his or her absentee ballot in the mail. The entire voting process can be completed by mail and does not require a visit to City Hall. The dual application that is available for the August Election also allows you to request your November ballot at the same time.

“With uncertainty related to the current COVID-19 pandemic, voting by absentee ballot is a great way for residents to cast their votes from the comfort and safety of their own homes,” said City Clerk Erica Armstrong. “The City is also working on plans to install a secure ballot drop box at City Hall. This will provide voters with a place to safely return their voted ballots in person, without needing to wait in line or even enter the building, making absentee voting even more convenient for residents.”

To sign up for the list, visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/absentee and click on the “Join the Permanent Absentee Voter List” button at the top of the page. The form takes less than two (2) minutes to complete and requires only basic information such as name, address, and birth year to verify identity. One form should be completed for each registered voter wishing to join the Permanent Absentee Voter List.

Residents can visit the Michigan Voter Information Center online at mvic.sos.state.mi.us to verify their registration status, update their address, check their registration on the permanent absentee voter list, and even track their absentee ballot. Voters living outside the City of Midland can also look up the contact information for their local Clerk to request an absentee ballot for their jurisdiction.

For more information on absentee ballots or voting in the City of Midland, visit the Midland City Clerk’s Office online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/clerk or call the Clerk’s office at 989-837-3312.
