[ARCHIVED] Update on City Sanitary Sewer Service Disruption - May 22, 6 p.m.

A flooded downtown Midland

May 22, 2020  At this time, the City of Midland has restored full service to two of the five sanitary sewer pump stations operated by the City of Midland Wastewater Treatment Plant that were have been overtaken by flood water. The Valley and Moorland pump stations have been fully restored. Residents serviced by these stations may resume regular water usage at this time.

A third sanitary sewer pump station, Emerson, has been partially restored at this time with the assistance of temporary pumps. Residents may use water in this service area, but are cautioned that sewers may be sluggish until flows slow. The City anticipates that the Emerson pump station will be fully restored within the next week.

Two pump stations, Currie and Towsley, remain overtaken by flood waters and are not in service at this time. The City anticipates that these pump stations will be assessed and restored once flood waters subside.

A map showing the locations of these pump stations and their service areas can be found at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/seweroutage. Please do not call 911 or the Wastewater Treatment Plant to check on the status of your sanitary sewer service.

The Midland water distribution system remains fully operational and has not been compromised. It is safe to drink and use for all residents.

The City of Midland Wastewater Treatment Plant remains fully staffed and operational at this time.
