[ARCHIVED] Let's Grow at the Circle Area Community Garden

March 14, 2014 – The City of Midland is now accepting applications for gardening plots at the Circle Area Community Garden located at the intersection of Edwin and Cambridge streets. The deadline for submissions has been extended until all plots are filled.

Gardeners who secure a plot in this organic garden will receive a prepared planting bed in which to grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers. Gardeners are responsible for purchasing their own plant material, planting that material, and providing ongoing summer maintenance of the plants, which includes watering and weeding. This opportunity is available just to residents of the city of Midland.

Applications and information on the program can be found on the City’s website. Applications are also available for pick up at City Hall, the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, and the Municipal Service Center.

Applications along with a non-refundable fee of $20 can be mailed to: City of Midland, Circle Area Community Garden, c/o Stephanie Szostak, 333 W. Ellsworth St., Midland, MI 48642. Applications plus the fee can also be dropped off in person at the Municipal Service Center, located at 4811 N. Saginaw Rd.

For additional information or questions on the program, call City Horticulturist Stephanie Szostak at 989-837-6915.
