[ARCHIVED] Reminder: Submit Absentee Ballots Before August 4

Absentee ballot with a blue stripe on the side

July 24, 2020 – With the August 4 Primary Election less than two weeks away, registered voters in the City of Midland whom plan to submit their votes by absentee ballot are reminded to return their voted ballots to the Midland City Clerk’s Office as soon as possible. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the City Clerk’s Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.

Voters should return their ballots to the City Clerk’s Office by placing it inside the included white envelope with a green stripe on the left side. The envelope must be signed by the voter in the appropriate area in order to be counted.

For ballots returned by mail, return postage of 70 cents is required to mail back an absentee ballot. As the City Clerk’s Office recommends allowing 2 weeks’ mailing time for returning voted ballots by mail, it is recommended that any ballots that have not been mailed at this time be returned in person. A drive-up ballot drop box is available at the Larkin Street entrance to City Hall for registered voters in the City of Midland to submit absentee voter applications and ballots in a contactless format. Residents who live in a township outside of the City of Midland should not use this drop box and should return their ballots to their township clerk.

Voters should not use the payment drop box inside the doors of City Hall to return absentee ballot applications and ballots as they will not fit and may become damaged and unable to be processed.

Absentee ballot applications will be processed in the order they were received and by precinct. To track if an application has been received, a ballot has been mailed, or if a ballot has been delivered back to the Clerk’s Office, visit the Michigan Voter Information Website (MVIC) found at

For questions or more information on how to obtain an absentee ballot, visit or contact the Midland City Clerk’s Office at 989-837-3310 or
