[ARCHIVED] Downtown to Launch New Brand, Website September 10

Downtown Midland in blue font with yellow, green, and blue arches above itSeptember 4, 2020 - The Midland Downtown Development Authority is thrilled to announce the launch of a new brand identity and website for Downtown Midland.

“With the revitalization of the Downtown Midland streetscape and the emergence of new businesses throughout the district, the time was right to re-energize the look and feel of the Downtown Midland brand,” said City of Midland Community Affairs Director Selina Tisdale. “The new look for Downtown Midland represents the welcoming feeling and energy one should expect when dining, shopping, or simply relaxing in the district.”

Local creative agency Aberro Creative, located in Downtown Midland, developed the new identity and overhaul of the existing Downtown Midland website.  The arches of the logo are reminiscent of favorite downtown locations like the Tridge, the shape of new streetscape corners and pergolas, and the architecture of the Midland County Courthouse.  The custom typeface in the logo is a nod to Midland’s mid-century modern architecture and resembles windows and doorways found throughout Downtown’s historic buildings.

A “New Look Launch Celebration” event is scheduled for Thursday, September 10 from 5 – 9 p.m. in Downtown Midland.  The event will feature live music by the Midland Saxophone Quartet and Empty Pockets and include giveaways of Downtown Midland t-shirts, tote bags, and decals. The DDA encourages attendees to observe all COVID-19 safety protocols for the duration of the event.

"This is a great opportunity to visit the downtown area if you haven’t been here in a while," said Tisdale. "Many businesses will be staying open later than normal for evening shopping, and the two-block closure of Main Street will allow everyone room to spread out and enjoy the live music throughout the evening.”
