[ARCHIVED] Midland Fire Department Celebrates Fire Prevention Week

October 1, 2020 – Midland Fire Department asks residents to “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen” during Fire Prevention Week in Midland October 4 – 10 by learning about and practicing fire safety in the kitchen.

To celebrate Fire Prevention Week, the Midland Fire Department has created a video series to help residents learn about fire safety in the kitchen. Topics in the video series include safe cooking tips; best practices for safely using microwaves, ovens, and other cooking appliances; what to do if a kitchen fire occurs; and more. Videos can be viewed on the following channels:

A new video will be released each day during Fire Prevention Week, so residents should check back daily for the next installment.

In accordance with the City’s current COVID-19 pandemic response, the annual Fire Prevention Week open house previously scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at Fire Station One has been cancelled.

For more information on Fire Prevention Week, visit www.nfpa.org or search #FirePreventationWeek on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. For questions or information about Midland Fire Department and its fire safety initiatives, call 989-837-3410 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/fire.
