October 20, 2020 – Anticipated low temperatures over the next several days will cause slight changes to the paving schedule as contractors work to complete the Eastman Avenue expansion project in the coming weeks.
Milling and paving will begin on the outer lanes of Eastman on Wednesday, October 21, with work on the inner lanes beginning on Thursday, October 22. With lower nighttime temperatures projected this week, contractors will work to complete all paving activities during daylight hours in lieu of paving at night as previously anticipated. All paving activities are expected to be completed by the end of this week, weather permitting.
One traffic lane will be maintained in each direction through the construction zone while paving is underway; however, left turns will be restricted for all Eastman traffic between Wackerly Street and Joe Mann Boulevard. Motorists who wish to access a business on the southbound side of Eastman should use Joe Mann to access Eastman.
At this time, the project is on schedule to be completed by Friday, October 30; however, residents are reminded that these activities are highly weather-dependent and inclement weather may impact the construction schedule. Should an issue arise that would change this schedule, updates will be provided.
Heavy traffic delays exist in this area during construction, so motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes around the project if possible. Businesses in the Midland Mall area and along Joe Mann Boulevard may also be accessed via Jefferson Avenue.
Motorists traveling through or to a destination within the construction zone should drive with caution while work is underway.
