There is still time to register for the City of Midland’s ninth annual Midland Citizens Academy – a free, 10-week course that gives citizens an up-close and personal look at how local government functions and helps shape our community. Applications will be accepted until Friday, December 12.
Up to 25 citizens will be selected to participate in the academy, which is comprised of 10 two-hour sessions held at various Midland locations. The academy will take place each consecutive Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. from January 14 to March 18.
Through presentations and facility tours, each session will demonstrate the role and responsibility of the City of Midland’s various departments and the services they provide to the community. Participants will also gain a better understanding of the role Midland city government plays in the quality of life that Midlanders enjoy. In addition, one session will feature Midland County and its collaborative relationship with the City of Midland.
To apply, Midland citizens may fill out an online application at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov, or a hard copy application, located at either the Information Center in Midland City Hall or the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library Reference Desk.
Midland residency is not required to be considered for the academy; however, if there are more applicants than available spaces, first preference will be given to those living in the city.
